Halloween was a success at Hosmer Point! Last night’s spooky walk through the woods got two thumbs up from campers, as did the movie Surfs Up. We’ve also been told by several campers that they slept very well, all things considered.

Breakfast this morning was eggs, bacon, toast, and cantaloupe. Meanwhile, the Lost and Found pile continues to grow. Returning mysterious sweatshirts, water bottles, and other belongings to their rightful owners has become something of a major camp activity lately.

Campers are settling into their new focus areas, and there is plenty happening around campus. Farm & Garden made onion rings and French fries. D&D campers have been creating companions who live in haunted houses and volcanoes, proving once again that their imaginations know no limits. Guitar looks incredibly peaceful, with campers playing on the porch. Beginner Sailing is out on the water, including some campers who are sailing for the very first time. Noah Kahan took canoes to a neighboring beach in Maine, naturally singing the chorus of “I Wanna Go to Maine” along the way. And Book Club is doing exactly what you’d expect.

Lunch was mac and cheese, sweet potato fries, and peas.

Today’s electives included sock puppets, meditation drawing, and HP Cafe. (A special shoutout to the campers who made me a London Fog latte. Ten out of ten.) Campers also got to cash in their Casino Night winnings today. The prizes were exactly as silly as promised, including the opportunity to eat an entire bag of chips, refill dirt holes, and run their very own camp lemonade stand.

Meanwhile, cabins are starting to practice for Lip Sync Night, the biggest event of the session. The rehearsals are already underway, and we can’t wait to see what each cabin comes up with.

Tonight’s evening activity is Survival! Campers will be assigned different roles in the food chain, including carnivores, herbivores, omnivores, humans, and diseases. Like many of our camp games, it’s essentially a giant game of tag, with campers trying to survive, adapt, and navigate the food chain as the game unfolds.

It should be a fun and chaotic way to end the day!
