It’s Halloween at HP!

Today is the first day of our new focus areas, so campers are getting the chance to try something new and settle into their activities for the second half of the session. Today’s electives include flower crowns, ultimate frisbee, protesting, Great British Bake Off, flash mob, and Pickles Pickles Pickles, where campers are eating pickles, playing pickleball, and, naturally, spending time with Pickles the dog.

Last night, we had to make a big pivot when a thunderstorm rolled in overhead. Our planned BBQ beach party moved inside to the dining hall, but that didn’t stop the fun. Campers had a dance battle and then settled in for a movie night. Sometimes the best camp memories come from changing plans!

Breakfast this morning had a little Halloween flair with peach French toast, sausages, and orange slices. We’re not saying the sausages looked like fingers, but we’re also not saying they didn’t.

Lunch was a cozy one: pot roast and linguini, giving everyone plenty of fuel for a busy Halloween afternoon.

Tonight is our Halloween evening activity. Campers who are up for a scare will head into the woods with their cabinmates for a spooky walk, where counselors will jump out and surprise them along the way. The walk is challenge-by-choice, so campers can decide for themselves how much spooky they want in their Halloween. For campers who would rather skip the woods, we’ll have plenty of other Halloween activities happening around camp, including games, storytelling, movies, trick-or-treating, and more. There will be lots of ways to celebrate Halloween, whether campers are looking for a good scare or a more relaxed evening.

It’s going to be a spooky one at Hosmer Point!
