As many readers already know, we had quite the thunderstorm run through camp last night. Our safety procedures worked exactly as they should. Campers stayed safely indoors with their counselors and directors, while staff communicated by radio and kept each other updated as the storm moved through. Everything went smoothly, and the storm quickly passed, leaving us with a quiet night of sleep.

The Polar Bears were extra loud this morning, making sure absolutely everyone knew it was time to wake up. Breakfast was pancakes and sausage, a particular favorite for the sweet tooths among us.

Focus areas are in full swing today. Comic Creation is working on final drafts, while our Beginner Mountain Bikers are looking considerably less like beginners. Thanksgiving Arts & Crafts is hard at work making decorations for Thursday’s dinner, and they’re keeping their theme a closely guarded secret. Meanwhile, Hook & Cook caught a seven-pounder!

Our LITs are shaping up to be excellent leaders. Today they spent some time reflecting on their first week at camp and looking ahead to the next few days, including their Burma Shave Card hike. This is a hike where campers follow a trail marked by a series of signs, each revealing part of a message or story as they go.

And now, every cabin is busy practicing for Lip Sync Night, the biggest event of the session. What songs are they performing? Top secret. What dance moves are they planning? Also top secret. No one is allowed to share anything with the other cabins, so we’ll all have to wait until the big night to find out what they’ve been working on.

The secrets are getting harder to keep!
