Yesterday started off with a delicious breakfast of blueberry French toast before campers headed into their electives. Campers explored bug hunting, ultimate frisbee, synchronized swimming, LARPing, finger painting, and a bird walk led by our experienced naturalists. Others worked together to create a flash mob, learning choreography and preparing a surprise performance.
Lunch was braised beef and noodles with roasted squash on the side. Later, snack brought us maple scones, which were described by some campers as literally the best thing I’ve ever eaten! The waterslide was open during free choice time, which is always a favorite.
At dinner, the flash mob campers got to share what they had been working on during electives with the whole camp. They brought energy, excitement, and plenty of smiles to the dining hall as they performed for everyone.
Our evening activity was Survival! This classic Hosmer game combines strategy, teamwork, and a whole lot of running. Campers are assigned roles as herbivores, carnivores, or diseases based on how many summers they’ve spent at camp. Teams then compete in a game of tag mixed with a relay race, working together to survive, collect resources, and outsmart the other groups. It’s always a favorite because it brings campers of all ages together for a high-energy evening of fun.
Electives continue throughout the week, and we’ll share more about our focus areas next week!
