Today was our first full day at Hosmer Point, and it was packed with adventure, creativity, and plenty of camp spirit!
The day started with our staff Polar Bears waking everyone up before campers headed to breakfast. We had pancakes, sausage, oatmeal, and plenty of granola and cereal options to fuel up for the day.
After breakfast came Community Work Time. Each day, cabins are assigned a different area of camp to help take care of, whether that’s kitchen chores, arts and crafts, or another important space around camp. It’s one of the many ways campers help make HP feel like home.
Then it was time for our first full day of AM Focus Areas! Task Master campers helped create posters for their Cardinal Direction teams, Racket campers played tennis, and Advanced Mountain Biking headed out onto the trails. Campers also dove into Country Club, Softcore, Farm & Garden, Club Nature, Disc x3, Lake Livin’, Mask Making, and more.
Electives brought even more fun and creativity. LARPing campers created costumes and built their own adventures, even entertaining other groups around camp. Other campers competed in Dodgeball in the Barn, battled it out with Jenga and Battleship, built shelters in the woods, took on Extreme Jenga challenges, or jumped into short D&D campaigns with pre-made characters.
Lunch was Taco Tuesday, and the reviews are in: 10/10!
After lunch came E3, a chance for campers to recharge in designated areas around camp. Some campers relaxed on the porch, while others headed down the waterslide.
After E3, cabins gathered for Cabin Time. Campers spent time with their cabin groups, talked with counselors, took showers, and wrote letters home.
Dinner was mashed potatoes, pork loin, cauliflower, and plenty of happy campers.
The evening wrapped up with Counselor Hunt! Counselors hid around camp, each worth a certain number of points for their Cardinal Direction team. Campers searched high and low trying to find them all. The current word around camp is that South is in the lead!
It was an awesome first full day, and we can't wait to see what the rest of the session brings.
