Yesterday evening we gathered for a hearty dinner of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and banana cake for dessert. The plan was to kick off an epic game of Quidditch, and just as the staff was getting ready to demonstrate the rules... a flash of lightning put those plans on hold. Safety first! We went into a thunder watch, campers headed back to their cabins, and everyone settled in comfortably while the storm passed overhead. The weather didn't stop the fun. Campers got creative with the unexpected cabin time. Some cabins broke into Christmas carols, others swapped pirate tales or nature stories, and everyone made the best of a cozy evening together before turning in for the night. Once the storm had passed, camp was quiet and everyone was safe.
This morning was a real doozy in the best way. Breakfast was build-your-own breakfast sandwiches, giving everyone the chance to create their perfect combination before heading off for another busy day. Our oldest campers headed into Craftsbury for their Capstone trip. They spent time playing Stones on the Commons, learned about local history at the Craftsbury Museum, browsed the free book market, and of course enjoyed well-earned creamies from The Genny.
Back at camp, lunch featured... drum roll please... more sandwiches! This time with delicious BBQ chicken.
Afternoon focus areas were in full swing, and Thanksgiving Arts & Crafts may have the most important deadline of the entire session. Campers are hard at work decorating the Dining Hall for our final dinner theme: Hoedown Throwdown. (Shhh... it's still a secret!) This afternoon featured one extra-special elective. Aggressive Self Care encouraged campers to release a little energy by yelling underwater, while Flotation Station accidentally-on-purpose unhooked a dock and set sail on an unforgettable voyage across the pond. Judging by the squeals of laughter echoing across camp, it was a success.
As I'm writing this, every corner of Hosmer Point is alive with campers putting the finishing touches on their Lip Sync performances. Cabins, fields, porches, and shady spots are all full of singing, dancing, and last-minute choreography. After pizza tonight comes the biggest showdown of the session: Lip Sync! We can't wait to see what everyone has been secretly practicing all week.
