Last night's evening activity was our Casino Night, a favorite every session. Campers dressed up in costumes and spent the evening using their Hosmer Point money to play games like poker, Wheel of Fortune, and Fun Zone. The goal was to earn as much money as possible for their team before the grand auction, where campers bid on mystery prizes. Popular prizes included Chip-o-rama, extra swimming time, car washes, dog washes, and more. The excitement lasted well into the evening as teams tried to outbid one another for the best surprises.
The Polar Bears were especially enthusiastic this morning, waking everyone up with their signature rhyming chant. Breakfast featured cinnamon rolls, eggs, sausage, and grapes, giving everyone plenty of fuel for another busy day.
Community Work Time had a fun soundtrack today, with the Party Box blasting music while campers tackled camp chores. As always, plenty of favorite lip sync performances from past summers made it onto the playlist.
This morning's focus period included Softcore, a chance for campers to recharge before the afternoon. Campers relaxed by eating apples, reading, making friendship bracelets, and playing tetherball.
Electives were as delightfully goofy as ever. Campers could choose from Dibble Dabble, letter writing, beach volleyball, paper airplane making, Extreme Spoons, Aura Farming, and plenty of other wonderfully silly activities.
Lunch was a camp favorite: grilled cheese and tomato soup, with some of the sweetest watermelon we've had all summer. On beautiful sunny days like today, campers get the special privilege of eating anywhere on the upper campus instead of gathering in the dining hall. The only rule? Keep your lunch away from the camp dogs, who are always on the lookout for an unattended grilled cheese.
Afternoon focuses are really hitting their stride. Farm & Garden rolled fresh spring rolls, while Magazine Making has been hard at work producing this session's camp newspaper and collecting the week's juiciest gossip. Their biggest scoop so far? Pickles the dog is, in fact, not actually a pickle.
It's definitely a hot one here, but we couldn't ask for better weather. The sunshine means the waterfront is open for E3, and campers have been thrilled to cool off in the lake all afternoon. Summer at Hosmer Point doesn't get much better than this!
