Welcome Director Ali Kuhlman!

We’re so pleased and excited to introduce Ali Kuhlman as the third member of our year-round Camp Director team!

Many of you will remember Ali from this past summer when she worked at camp as a month-long Seasonal Director. Ali has also served as our on-call mental health consultant and assisted with staff training since 2022.  A long-time camper herself, she knows first-hand the positive impact camp can have on the life of a young person. Over the last 13 years, Ali has worked as a school social worker in Boston and Vermont, most recently at Main Street Middle School in Montpelier. Ali’s daughter, Penny, will be joining her at camp and they both look forward to time in Arts & Crafts and at the Waterfront.  You can read Ali’s full bio on our website here.

Hosmer Point is lucky to have three year-round Directors who share responsibilities for the many facets of operating camp.  As many of you know, our founding camp Director, Jon Hammond, moved on from camp this winter and is starting a team building training and consulting firm, Just Be Leadership.  Directors Carrie Glessner and Jordan Swank continue in their positions and will be joined by Ali beginning in June.

Jon, Jordan, and Carrie have been hard at work since fall conducting a national search and interviewing candidates for this key position.  In the end, we are thrilled to have found exactly the right person so close to home.  Jon says: “I couldn't be happier knowing Ali is joining the HP Leadership Team.  I've known her since she was sixteen years old and have witnessed her growth as a positive and inspirational leader.  I know she'll bring love, passion and energy to the HP family.”  Ali says: “When I moved into my tent at Hosmer Point last summer and began the daily experience of growing with and learning about each camper, each counselor, each camp kid and staff member and roving dog, I didn’t know how much peace I would find—how my mind would be challenged and nurtured by the endless opportunities to care; and how my heart would settle into the knowledge that I had found home. I am thrilled to join the dynamic team of year-round directors at Hosmer Point.”

Ali brings new areas of expertise to the Director team, which will help us build strengths in new ways and continue to make Hosmer Point a place that is welcoming and accessible. Having called on Ali for advice over the past two summers, we can say with certainty that there is no one we’d rather have by our side as we continue to build our camp community.  We look forward to introducing Ali to you in person over the coming months (check out our events calendar)!

Welcome Home, Ali!
