Wild Branch Day 2
The Wild Branch session is off to a fantastic start!
Last night, campers were sorted into their kingdoms for the Kingdom Cup competition. This session's kingdoms are the Danes, Mercia, Wessex, and Northumbria. Campers met their kingdom mates and began preparing for a week of friendly competition.
Like every morning at Hosmer Point, the Polar Bears kicked off the day with their enthusiastic chant and a dip in the Greta Hosmer Pond before the rest of camp woke up. Breakfast was build-your-own breakfast sandwiches, followed by swim checks at the waterfront. Swim checks help our staff learn each camper's swimming abilities and ensure everyone can safely enjoy waterfront activities throughout the session. Later in the morning, campers jumped right into a Mario-themed waterfront game called Koopa Poopa. There was plenty of laughter, splashing, and silliness as campers got to know one another. After the waterfront game, campers headed off to their first electives of the session. Popular choices included archery, parkour, fairy house building, soccer, and many more.
Lunch featured macaroni and cheese, sweet potato fries, and vegetables. Yum!
This afternoon marks the beginning of our first focus areas. Unlike electives, which change throughout the week, focus areas meet every day and allow campers to spend more time developing skills and diving deeper into activities they enjoy. Tonight's evening activity is STONES!, a Hosmer Point classic that is somewhat similar to capture the flag. Campers will work with their kingdoms to strategize, compete, and earn valuable Kingdom Cup points.
May the best kingdom win!
