Last night, camp kicked off its first all-camp competition with Stones, a fast-paced favorite that had everyone cheering for their Hogwarts house. When the final scores were tallied, Ravenclaw claimed first place, followed by Hufflepuff, Slytherin, and Gryffindor. With the House Cup officially underway, every point counts!
After the excitement, campers headed straight to bed, where Director Belle sang songs across the bay as cabins settled in for the night, ending the day on a peaceful note.
This morning began with the first Polar Bears of the session, our early risers who helped wake the rest of camp. Breakfast featured fluffy pancakes, sausage, and all the usual favorites, and the pancakes were definitely a hit.
Before heading off to activities, everyone pitched in during Community Work Time. Campers helped keep Hosmer Point looking its best by cleaning shared spaces like the dining hall and arts and crafts, which can get wonderfully messy after a busy day.
Morning focus areas were full of adventure and creativity. Survival Skills campers learned how to build a fire before celebrating with roasted marshmallows. Arts and Crafts participants designed colorful HP posters, while the Advanced Mountain Biking group headed out to the Craftsbury Outdoor Center for a ride.
Electives offered something for everyone, from making beaded lizards and building sand castles to giant Jenga and imaginative whale watching, where campers became whales themselves! Long Swim gave water lovers extra time to enjoy the lake.
Lunch was Taco Tuesday, with easy vegetarian options for everyone to enjoy.
In the afternoon, Farm and Garden campers played "Pass the Chicken," visited the goats, and made refreshing popsicles using strawberries and herbs picked right from the Hosmer Point garden. Meanwhile, HP Magazine participants worked on artwork, quizzes, and collages as they continued creating this session's magazine.
Snack was another camp classic: warm maple scones, always a favorite.
Tonight's evening activity is Human Risk. Despite the name, it's much less risky than it sounds and always leads to plenty of strategy, teamwork, and laughs. With the House Cup race heating up, every event brings a new chance to earn points!
