Apologies for the late post! We had some technical difficulties…
The night of the 3rd was one of our most anticipated evening activities: Halloween! We showed a staff favorite movie “Fantastic Mr. Fox” in the theater and cabin groups took turns experiencing an optional haunted trail experience put together by the counselors. Younger cabins said it was “exciting” and “funny.” The oldest cabins had a spookier experience which they also enjoyed!
Yesterday was an extra-chill day at Hosmer Point. We had an hour “sleep in” in the morning since we were up a bit later than usual with our Halloween adventures. This gave us some extra time in the morning to work on our cabin lip sync performances for Wednesday night’s talent show, and then it was on to our focus areas! The Campaigning focus area is managing a campaign for campers Eddie and Zoe to be the newest camp directors - they’ve plastered camp with campaign posters that are keeping everyone laughing. BUILD is working on an exciting project to add seating and stairs to the office porch.
Dinner was my personal favorite: meatless Monday with BBQ tofu, roasted broccoli, and rice (which is somehow better than normal rice… I’m pretty sure Eliza has magic rice-making powers).
With the smoggy air quality, we’re kept the activities chill and planned a super-fun County Fair night including my favorite event, the tug-of-war contest. There was also face-painting, bobbing for apples, the nail pounding competition, Spike ball, pin-the-tail-on-the (counselor) donkey, and Billy Goats Gruff (an epic pillow-fight game). We closed out the day with campfire sing-alongs-in the cabin sections. Special shout-out to Will and Aiden for playing bedtime lullabys on their guitars for the youngest cabins!
