Wait List & Enrollment FAQs
The session I wanted is full. Now what?
We suggest you add your child to the wait list for that session. Many families register a year in advance, so there is generally movement on the wait list as summer plans are confirmed. Also, families on a wait list will be able to register for 2020 camps before the general public. Update as of February 2019: Many wait lists for 2019 have more than 20 people, so the chances of getting a spot for this season are small - however it is still worth signing up because you will be able to sign up earlier for 2020 camps!
How do I add my child to a wait list?
Click the link below, then create or log-in to a Parent Portal account. Choose "make a reservation." Wait lists will appear at the very bottom of the page, below any camp sessions for which your child is eligible. Choose the wait lists you'd like, then click to "check out."

What are my chances of getting into a camp from the wait list?
That depends on the time of year and your position on the list. If you are near the top of the list and it's early in the year, there is a good chance that your child would get in. As it gets closer to camp, we do sometimes have last minute cancellations due to unforeseen events. In these cases, many families on the wait list will have already made other plans, and even children far down the list may be able to get a spot. It's always a good idea to sign up for more than one wait list to increase your chances of getting into a camp session. Of course, we can never guarantee any child's placement. Many children on the wait list do not get into camp. If you'd like to know where your child is on the wait list, please email Carrie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can I register my child for their second choice session and have them switched into their first choice session if a spot opens up?
Yes. You can switch sessions at no charge if space becomes available.
How will I know if a spot opens up?
If your family is first on the wait list, we will contact you as soon as the next spot opens up. We generally email families, and you will have one or two days to respond. For last-minute openings, we may call instead. Listing multiple contact methods in your account will make it easier for us to reach you and increase your chances of getting a last-minute spot.
How can I be sure of getting a spot next year?
Returning and wait listed campers may register for the next year before the general public (you will be notified by email when registration opens). We encourage families to sign up as soon as possible.
Is there any chance you can squeeze my child in?
Our session sizes are dictated by the number of bunks we can fit in each cabin and the number of people we are licensed to feed in our dining hall, so it's not possible to add additional campers. Because we believe our small size is part of what makes Hosmer Point feel like home, we do not plan to change the number of campers we can house.
