Testimonials

Quotes from our parent surveys this past summer:

Camp Culture

"I think that the aspect of Hosmer Point that will remain the most memorable for both of my children is the genuine, open, and welcoming spirit of the camp. I am amazed at how the campers really became like one big and kind family. You have designed a program that fosters kindness and generosity while including a diverse array of exciting and fun activities."

--------------------------------

"You gave my son a second chance at enjoying the innocence of childhood. His eyes were opened to the kindness of others and how that should be an expectation of himself and others in his life. He felt acceptance and true friendship and stepped away from middle school drama. Thank you so much!"

--------------------------------

"My daughter feels like Hosmer Point is her second home.  I really appreciate the life skills she is learning while having so much fun."

--------------------------------

"The whole culture at HP was beneficial. I deeply value the silliness, creativity and caring, the core values of goodness and integrity, the active days and comfort in the outside world. I rave about H.P. being everything you would want a camp to be. Thank you!"

--------------------------------

"She absolutely loves the camp! It is a very happy place for her, she feels so relaxed and comfortable and free. Thank you providing such a positive environment!"

The Staff

"Staff and counselors are rock solid, upbeat and great role models"

--------------------------------

"He loved that so many counselors were from other countries. You have a wonderful group of young counselors and senior staff that are all working together. That is not easy to recruit and retain, so congratulations on doing an outstanding job."

--------------------------------

"We were impressed with the counseling staff, and flexibility on arrival to switch Maggie's cabin to be with age group peers... we were listened to immediately on that and it was great. I think the culture and community were great... I could tell Maggie felt comfortable to be herself and to really soak up the experience"

--------------------------------

"Keep doing what you are doing - Hosmer Point provides an experience of a lifetime. Such a special place. Also, we were so happy to receive the letter home from Ben's cabin counselor. Feeling so fortunate! Thank you!"

--------------------------------

"You and your staff are creating a truly outstanding and memorable experience for the children that attend. Thank you for your dedication, commitment and enthusiasm. You can see and feel the awesome energy from everyone and everything at Hosmer. It was a monumental experience for our child and we thank you!"

--------------------------------

"My son had a great time. Life isn't always easy for him but he felt completely at home at camp. He loved how the counselors interacted with him. I am so pleased with how he seemed coming home - comfortable with himself, happy, more focused on the important things in life. As a parent, I loved how many counselors and staff came up to us to say hello. Thank you, Jon, Tripp, Andrew, Whalen, Carrie, Caroline, everyone, for making us feel comfortable leaving him with you, and for helping him have a terrific two weeks!"

The Food

"She totally loved loved loved the food, all she wants is veggies now. Thank you!"

--------------------------------

"The food was fresh, healthy and Emmy loved it. I have heard of many camps having unhealthy food. We were so pleased HP prioritized fresh healthy options."

--------------------------------

"Great counselors and great food. Pete is a very picky eater, but he came home raving about the food and how great it was."

--------------------------------

"The high quality of the food, with emphasis on local, sustainable and humane practices was deeply appreciated by camper and parents alike."

The "Camp Effect"

"Isidora comes home a little more grown up and independent each year. We also see the "camp effect" where she offers to help more and pitches in without being asked. I think more importantly, we have seen her become more tolerant and compromising towards others."

--------------------------------

"The fact that Ben said camp was the best experience of his life sealed the deal for me. Since being home he is calm and helpful. We stopped for lunch on the way home from camp and then a bookstore in Hardwick - while in the bookstore he picked out a puzzle for his younger sister instead of something for himself - to me that is priceless."

--------------------------------

"HP unlocked a lot of potential in the girls. They seemed to gain a couple of seasons' worth of maturity in one week. My guess: great staff, great location, awesome camp culture."

--------------------------------

"My son said he had the best experience of his life. He came home relaxed and happy. It was what we hoped camp would be for him. He loved the activities, the sports, the friendships, the relationships with the staff, everything."

Activities

Emmy really loved sculling, and the instructors were top notch, national team members!

--------------------------------

"He was excited about the friends he made at HP. He loved all his activities - especially soccer and lip sync. We went to the pool today and I noticed how much his swimming has improved since being at camp. Independence! Ben can't wait to come back next year!"

--------------------------------

"There was a perfect balance of structure and freedom, and the ability to self-direct electives day by day provided flexibility to suit her current interests."

Homesickness

"Many thanks to all of you who helped Meg (and us at home) get through her homesickness so she could enjoy her activities and time with friends. She was glad she did it!"

--------------------------------

"Henry struggled with homesickness (we knew it would be rough based on an experience earlier in the summer) and everyone at Hosmer was tremendously supportive. My husband and I are so grateful for the way folks looked out for Henry and encouraged him to participate fully (and from what we understand, he did)."

First Time Away

"Thank you. Peter had never been away from home on his own for more than a few days, so we were a little apprehensive. You gave him a great experience, which really helped his confidence, and he will be much more willing to tackle things independently in the future."

--------------------------------

"This was Eli's first experience with sleepaway camp, and it was so positive for him. He enjoyed the variety of activities, so many of which were a good match with his interests. It seems like the independence of being away from home for two weeks was really good for him. We're glad that he was able to find his place socially."

--------------------------------

"Thank you for all your hard work to make this a fun experience for the kids. It was the best first-time-away-from-home experience we could have asked for and it's clear that Juliet really enjoyed herself. She was glowing when we picked her up!"

Being Electronics Free

"We love that there are no screens whatsoever - Theron talked about how much he loved that everything was right there in the present, and that the only thing that mattered was being right where he was. What a gift - and huge developmental opportunity - for the kids."
