Being a Camp Counselor

Our counselors live in cabins with our campers. A ratio of eight campers to two counselors per cabin is typical. Counselors are responsible for guiding campers through day-to-day camp life, and will be looked to as role models inside and outside of the cabins. They must be fun-loving, patient and genuinely concerned for the welfare and development of young people.

In addition to living with campers in the cabin section, counselors will be responsible for leading activities around camp. We value counselors with expertise in a particular field, but flexibility and competence in a range of skills are equally important.  The most essential qualification for Hosmer Point counselors is the desire to be a positive role model to our campers.

Working as a summer camp counselor is a challenging job, but we can attest that with an enthusiastic attitude, you can have the time of your life. The rewards are exceptional when you are able to help children learn new skills, realize that they are important or even just make new friends. The camaraderie among staff members as well as the the bonds you can make with campers over just one summer will last a lifetime.

We are looking for counselors who are available from June 10 through through August 12, 2017.

All staff must be age 18 or older and have completed their senior year of high school (or equivalent).  If you're age 16, but would like to work at camp, check out our Leader In Training Programs.  If you're age 17 and have attended Hosmer Point previously, contact us about our Counselor In Training program.
